So I talked to my manager, and...
I will be working HARRY MOTHER EFFIN' POTTER!!!!

Dudes. This is going to be wicked.

HA HA HA BITCHES!

E.T.A.- Quick- where can one acquire a fancy stick with supportive properties??? I NEED ME A PIMP CANE!

::dissolves into giggles::

But while I have your attention- suggestions for costume ideas that are lightweight and relatively easy are greatly appreciated, as I want to make an effort, but don't want to die from heat exhaustion while working at the bookshop, a.k.a, running around like my head's been cut off.

E.T.A., Jr.- Oh, hells no am I waking up in 3 hours to do yoga. I clearly fail. At everything.

coolness!

and by the way, I wanted to ask you how one reserves the book, because I haven't done it yet. Do I call the store?

You can call the store, or if you don't have access to a membership discount and want me to, I can do it for you. They just need your name and phone number. Day of, though, they'll be wristbands, and the powers that be haven't decided yet how they'll be handed out.

yeah, I was gonna ask this too because I haven't had a chance to swing by the Union Square B&N for weeks and not sure if I'll have a chance before next week.

OMG WILL THERE BE A CRAZY OWL LADY AGAIN. I'LL HIDE. NICOLE NEEDS TO PROTECT ME.

I'm more afraid of the crazy stilts lady, myself.

HOW ARE YOU DRESSING UP?

I would say Sirius but my hair might be too short. So either James or Remus. HA, REMUS, AND I'LL PUT ON FAKE SCARS AND BE EMO ALL NIGHT. ;)

omg crazy stilts lady! poor woman.

yeah. last time, you got the wristbands when the store opened which sucks because I have work that day, and I can't take off. dammit.

I'll call the store tomorrow then (but I don't have the membership discount).

OH MY GOD SO MUCH FUN. SO. MUCH. FUN. Dress as a slytherin, it really freaks the little kids out.

::GEEKS OUT LIKE WHOA::
I am so sad right now that I'm not in california with my sewing machine and serger and fabric and crazy diy mom to tell me I'm doing everything wrong, because then I could totally have a kick-ass costume in a week and a half.

I can't freak the little kids out too much, since I am supposed to respect my position of authority, not abuse it. That's what I'm told at any rate. And OMG the cameras that'll be there! (Meaning, really, that my managers will be freaking out if anyone isn't dressed to their liking, despite encouraging us to dress up). It's going to be ridiculously hot, too...

WHERE CAN I FIND A GREEN/BLACK/SILVER CORSET TOP IN NYC IN THE MIDDLE OF SUMMER???

Re: ::GEEKS OUT LIKE WHOA::
ON THE INTRAWEBS. Would be my guess. Though some of the more obnoxious teeny slut shops have started stocking cheap ones at my local mall.

I've got a new-style slytherin tie that I could be convinced to sacrifice for the cause, if you need it and promise to send it back. <3 Anything for a fellow bookshop lass. Especially since you're trying to look responsible. Adding a tie to a corset totally makes it fine! Mmhm! (Also if you're doing facepainting, get the dark mark painted on.)

Re: ::GEEKS OUT LIKE WHOA::
I am afraid of the price of shipping to get it in time from the internets, quite frankly. I get off at 4pm this friday, so I will probably head down to the west village and see if I can find anything there.

There's a guy who sells $5 ties off a table randomly around union square and the herald square/penn station area, so I have been weighing the ick factor vs. just buying one the next time I see him so as to have a green slytherin-y tie. Thanks for the offer, though!

Face painting would probably melt/be wiped off inadvertently in 2 seconds, but henna might be fun...
